The Fall 2003 Training Schedule Has Been Successfully Completed

The Alfred Rod & Gun Club had two successful training events for the fall of 2003.

Hunter Education Firearm Safety Course (Gun) and

Hunter Education Archery Safety Course (Bow hunting)

We hosted our largest Archery Education Class ever !!  We certified 32 students.  The Class ranged in age from 11 to 40 something.  Everyone participated and seemed to have a lot of fun learning.  They all actively joined in the shooting.  They used their equipment if they had it and our 4H bows and arrows if they didn’t. The kids had such a ball shooting 3D and Standard box targets that we shot an extra hour during the afternoon.

Kenny Ordway, joined Blake, Rory and myself as instructors for this course.  Kenny is a certified 4H archery instructor and brings a wealth of archery experience and knowledge to the classroom and range. Again we will submit the names to Keith so these students will receive a one year club membership.

I just wanted to let you know we just finished our largest Gun Hunter Education Class since Blake, Rory, and I have been a team.  We certified 34 Students on Saturday,  They will all get a one year Club membership as usual. We did have one guest instructor, Mr. Alan Wheaton, who has taught for many years with the guys from the Almond Gun Club.  Al taught the section on firearms, ammunition and actions.

We also would like to thank Ms. Tracy Cochran, Mrs. Mary Nevol and Mrs. Jefferds for their assistance on Saturday.  Without them we would have had a much longer day.

A SPECIAL NOTE OF THANKS AND APPRECIATION

We all owe our Instructors and volunteers of our gun hunter safety and archery education classes a big debt of gratitude. 

These classes take a lot of preparation and time. We  just certified two of the largest classes in recent years.  So every time you see our dedicated instructors and volunteers, tell them thanks and tell them they are appreciated.
