Burr was our treasurer and a long time member of the Alfred Rod and Gun Club. He will be missed and we share our deepest condolences for his family. Burr was the last of the "Old Guard".

CANISTEO: Willis “Burr” Woodruff, 82, of 57 West Main St., passed away early Friday morning, Oct. 1, 2004, at his home.

Born in Alfred Station on Oct. 14, 1921, he was the son of Charles E. and Agnes Muszynski Woodruff. He was a graduate of the former Alfred High School as well as Alfred State College. He resided his early life in Alfred Station and in Canisteo since 1990. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Army from 1942-45, as a member of the 88th Infantry Division, 313th Engineer Combat Battalion; He served in North Africa and Italy. Following his discharge, he was employed by Agway Corporation until his retirement in 1979.

He was also a member of University Lodge No. 944 F & AM of Alfred, the Alfred American Legion, Treasurer of the Alfred Rod & Gun Club for many years, the Bakers Bridge Historical Society in Alfred Station and the Almond Senior Citizens. Fall 2003 - We have lost one of longest serving members, and one of our newest members.

CHARLES A. EASTERBROOKS was one of our longest serving members, was a past president of the club and one of our most supportive and active members. Charlie always enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping.  Friends may make memorial contributions to the Alfred Rod and Gun Club

GARY L. MATTICE of 8 Sunset Road, Hornell , one of our newest members , died unexpectedly Tuesday Afternoon Sept. 23, 2003.  Gary had been helping us with these mailings.
